Waltham Abbey is a Non Educational Parochial Charity formed in 1626, making it the oldest charity in our portfolio; despite this it is one of our most modern builds, being built in 1992. A subsequent addition to the scheme is the conservatory, known as ‘The Greene Room’. This has become the communal lounge and is well used by residents.
Francis Greene House is a sheltered scheme housing people who have demonstrated a connection to the Waltham Abbey area. The scheme is currently linked to Epping Forest Careline who provide a 24 hour response to emergencies at the scheme.
The Scheme Manager organises regular social events such as coffee mornings and fish & chip suppers. There is always a summer garden party and a Christmas lunch for residents, staff and trustees. Management staff attend coffee mornings 6 weekly to meet residents and discuss any matters affecting them.
The Trustees meet quarterly and Harrison Housing attends these meetings to provide a report on Finance and Operational activities. The latter covers not only repairs and maintenance, but also the welfare of the residents.
